Happy New Year! It’s time to welcome 2015.
I am excited to be back blogging on a regular schedule! This year is going to be filled with a whole lot of crazy, but I am looking forward to it.
To help you get started planning your year, I’ve compiled a few things to start looking forward to.
This year, Winnipeg is one of the host for The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada. The tournament starts on June 6 until July 5. To find out exactly when the games are happening check out the FIFA website.
Concerts are always a great idea. So far, Luke Bryan just announced a concert that will be hitting the MTS Centre on May 7, Joshua Radin will be playing on February 23 at The Garrick Theatre and of course, One Direction at Investors Group Field. To look up upcoming concerts in Winnipeg, Ticketmaster has the full list.
Festivals, how could I not talk about festivals. There are so many different types of festivals in Manitoba, it’s sometimes hard to decide. There is Festival Du Voyageur (February 13), Winnipeg Folk Festival (July 9) and the Winnipeg Wine Festival (April 26) just to name a few. The Big Fun Festival is starting very soon. It will begin on January 28 and end on February 1. It is a great opportunity to listen to some of Manitoba’s current and upcoming artists, as well as a few artists around Canada. There are nine venues around Winnipeg, including Thom Bargen Coffee & Tea, West End Cultural Centre, The Good Will and The Windsor Hotel.
If you are looking to have an active year, there are a lot of opportunities to sign up for runs this summer. In the past, Colour Me Rad and The Dirty Donkey Mud Run have been popular but, there’s a new one to try out- The 5k Foam Fest. This race is scheduled for June 27 in Beaconia, Manitoba and looks like an absolute blast. The race is full of obstacles like foam Pits, slip n’ Slides and adult sized inflatables. It reminds me of a smaller version of the TV show, Wipeout. You can register for a fee of $40.00 on the website.
Get ready to have a great year!
